App Store Optimization - What is it?
App Store Optimization (ASO) is the process of optimizing mobile apps for the purpose of achieving a higher ranking in an app store’s search results. The higher the ranking, the more visible the app will be to potential customers, which ideally leads to more downloads and installs.
ASO is similar to Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for websites—both aim to improve visibility and organic traffic by improving the rank of a page or website in search results.
There are two main types of optimization:
On-metadata
This includes all the elements you can control on your app store page, such as the app title, description, icon, etc.
Off-metadata
This includes everything else, such as app reviews and ratings, backlinks, social media signals, etc.
